This small-diameter hose/tube is part of the fuel filler neck assembly and the Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) system. Its vital function is to vent air and fuel vapor from the fuel tank during refueling to prevent back-pressure (spit-back), and to allow the tank to equalize pressure (breathe) during normal operation. Failure of this line can trigger Check Engine Light codes related to the EVAP system.
