Over tens of thousand of miles and age this bushing will fail causing steering slop and knocking noises from the front suspension. The OE design is a "hydrobearing" which means the bushing is filled with hydraulic fluid. When this bushing fails the fluid will create a tell tale leak indicating that the bushing has failed.
